It’s 10PM here in NYC, and before I head out into the city that never sleeps, I wanted to finish some tweaks and tests on our upcoming theme. Here’s a sneak peek at what we’ve been working on behind the scenes. It’s next on the release schedule so stay tuned.
Connect – A WordPress and BuddyPress combo theme. Now you can run an online newspaper and a social network all on one site. Teaser image below:

The login box in the middle of the page seems out of place to me. Is there a specific reason for doing that?
Charlie Patel Permalink
Hi Jonathan – I see what you mean. Luckily, one can disable the login box in middle from the Theme Options with just 1 click. The thought process behind it was to make it clearly evident that the user can get involved and register or login. By placing it in high visibility area, it draws attention to it. We expect site owners to use the left area (ad currently) to draw more attention to the fact that users can register and get social. Or use that area to steer users to a specific page (ex: activity page). Hope that made sense.

Charlie,
Congratulations on combining WP and BP.
It looks great.
I’m sure it will be very successful.
(PS. Ocean City, MD was fantastic this weekend. It felt like everyone from Wash.DC was there. I bet you miss DC.:) )
Charlie Patel Permalink
Thanks Richard. Yes, I do miss DC a bit, and I even considered heading down to OC. Maybe next year.

Charlie,
Have used a numbe rof your other themes on projects and this one, from what you have teased us with looks very much up to your great standard.
But one question: You didn’t mention it in the brief editorial, but will this theme be fully responsive?
Cheers,
Michael.
