Advanced Newspaper V1.2 released
We have been working on the new version of Advanced Newspaper for the past month. Before proceeding for the theme update, we listened the everyone’s suggestions and prepared a road map for our self what features to be added into the new version.
Here are the change log for V1.2 Advanced Newspaper
- A new designed theme settings page – Screenshot
- Possibility to switch between image and text based logos using theme settings page
- New navigation bar on header for pages
- Commented CSS files to make things easier for customization
- 7 extra page layout for static pages
- Socialize buttons
- Category and Tags links on post page
- Re-designed comment style
Upgrade
- Download the new package
- Upload all show_image_ files to the root of your folder (overwrite old files)
- Upload plugins (overwrite old plugins)
- Delete wp-adv-newspaper folder from themes/ directory and upload new theme folder from the downloaded package

I haven’t even tried to configure my complimentary Newspaper template but I’ll definitely try the updated version.
The “Screenshot” link above and in the email notification doesn’t display correctly using FF (see attachment)

You will need to hover and click on image to expand it. FF tries to display image in the size of screen but when clicked on, it will be displayed normally.

WOWO, Great news for us, Like who buy the Advanced Newspaper themes. I like it very much.
For your next release (maybe some are fixed in ver 1.2 have not installed it yet)
- more photo and video options would be great
- since i use lots photos and video – kinda of life style magazine way
- Possibility to incorporate pages or sections just for pictures in a kind of albumish way
optional would be
extend the built in (of curse lots of plug-ins – not always design match)
- slide show function that you have on the front page but fore every individual article
I am not sure if I have a lot do with Videos but for sure there are things to handle with Photos. There will be a new template page to slide between WordPress powered galleries in a single post

Download link which is emailed you after the purchase will have access to latest version of the theme always.
Love the theme update but they are so photo-heavy you need to have a way of subtly showing the creative commons license tagline for use of free photos…

I am not really sure if I understood Carrzo? What do you mean when you say

Mehmet must have a faster internet service than we do in the states.
So, the loading of photos slow down the opening of the site.
I haven’t picked on Mehmet for it yet since he has been busy with updates and new themes.
If you visit a site often that has the theme, most of it is already in cache (assuming you don’t automatically delete cache).
Mehmet, I’m impressed that Brian found your site. He is a VIP in the net industry !!!!

Update links are not being emailed separately. The same download link that was emailed you once you purchased theme can always be used to grab the latest version of theme.

I bought AdvNewspaper WPMU theme with built in photo gallery feature and I am unable to figure out how to set it up to create photo gallery page.. Am I missing something here? Please advice. thank you! marek

Although I do believe this Adv Newspaper is a great tool for some reason I couldn’t spot the improvements you guys are talking about here. I have gone through the panel and I didn’t find nothing new in it. Off course, theme such as this one are very complex to get upgraded because they come full blown from scratch.
I’m very amused by the new Transcript theme as I have spoken to Mehmet largely about get the Adv Newspaper replaced by this new one. Mehmet seems very enthusiastic about this new theme but I couldn’t find the real differences between them.
Is Transcript an entry level? Or the Adv Newspaper is the most advanced of the two. And the Adv Newspaper upgraded?
Please, advise a little :-)

Armando, when you upload the new version, it will display itself as another theme on admin dashboard. You need to go to Appearance > Themes and activate Advanced Newspaper so then you’ll start to see updates.
The main difference between advanced newspaper and Transcript are the layouts. They both have different layouts. Beside that the media gallery of Transcript theme is able to differ between a video and photo post so it selects whether to display video or photo on admin media gallery bar on front page

I am purchasing Advanced Newspaper, but debated whether I should get Transcript. Any chance the advertising flexibility built into Transcript will be added to AN? Also, is there a tutorial on changing the border so that it appears like Transcript? In other words, I like how Transcript looks, but prefer how AN handles categories.

Im about to purchase the advance wp newspaper themes its really good but one thing i want to know in advance and that is, is this possible to show thumbnail on main page with category or in future without hosting it on my on self hosting, like some theme may give you this option by putting some custom field you can put only the url of the image and it will show on and with the category. like you said “streamed from outside of your site will NOT be resized for main page thumbnail” but how can i streamed the image from outside any custom field entry ?
Please clear my this though so i can go further to buy or not to buy.

You can use custom fields to display thumbnail but the auto thumbnail is not going to work for these images. The method we have in Advanced Newspaper is that so, you can write url of the image to upload on your servers on upload window, and image will be resized in thumbnail size when it is crunched with built in functions of WordPress, so then you can use Set Thumbnail option to display it on front page.

I think u didnt get my point, I just need not to upload every image on my hosting so is there any chance ! to do the same! like i want to show the image on feature area in your theme in the main page and other thumbnail with post, any custom field command or i just have to upload the image every time to work that for me ?
Yes there is a chance to do that
There is no need to use any custom field, things are automated. Additionally you don’t actually have to use front page thumbnail inside the post

Aviz, sorry but we don’t use blog commenting section for theme supports. You can have answer for these questions using our support forums once you purchase the theme.
Hello. I am wondering purchasing this theme as it seems like a good fit for my needs. I am wondering though if it supports .po file for language translation? Or will I have to edit many different files?
We use .po files for translations with in all our themes. Furthermore, Advanced Newspaper is ready-translated into Norwegian, so if you are going to use it on a Norwegian site, you don’t need to translate anything.
